What is Coating and its types?

A coating is a covering that is applied to the surface of an object, or substrate. The purpose of applying the coating may be decorative, functional, or both. Coatings may be applied as liquids, gases or solids e.g. powder coatings.

Our Coating Procedures:

Mahendra Blasting & Coating Enterprise employs precision sandblasting techniques to prepare surfaces by removing contaminants, rust, and old coatings. This process ensures a clean, smooth foundation for optimal adhesion of protective coatings or paints.

Paint Systems:

1. We use paint as a common material to protect steel.
2. Protective paint systems typically consist of primer, undercoats, and finish coats.
3. Each coating layer has a specific function and is applied in a particular sequence.
4. We verify that paint materials comply with specifications, including checking packaging, labeling, and condition, and taking samples for testing.
5. We measure paint coat thickness to ensure it's correct.

Application Procedures:

1. We follow the protective coating manufacturer's and client's specifications for material handling, mixing, environmental controls, safety, and equipment
2. Application methods are governed by the paint manufacturer's recommendations.
3. We strictly adhere to mixing ratios, thinner percentages, pot life, and over-coating intervals.
4. Trained and experienced operators carry out all paint applications.
5. We use coating manufacturer-approved application equipment.
6. We maintain a clean working area.
7. We avoid painting in specific weather conditions (high wind, low/high temperatures, humidity, dust, rain, etc.).
8. We clean blasted surfaces with compressed air before painting.
9. We ensure coatings are free from lifting, poor adhesion, and discoloration, with uniform film thickness.
10. We use airless spray to achieve specific film thickness, adjusting spray width and pressure.
11. We comply with paint manufacturer temperature limitations.
12. All work is performed in dry and atmospherically correct conditions.
13. We clean up material spills immediately.
